You missed it
Apr 21, 2026I missed you!
We spent two days doing a deep dive on what is really at the heart of Being A Professional Worth Hiring. More importantly, what does it mean to be Profoundly Satisfied in your business - and life?
When was the last time you spent two days immersed in that question?
The participants left touched, moved, and inspired. Not the “rah rah” inspiration, but rather the kind of inspiration that comes from within - maybe similar to Iron Man’s arc reactor in the Marvel movies. This weekend was like igniting people’s internal metaphorical arc reactor.
Most of the real estate industry is keeping one score: How much did you sell? In fact, the RealTrends 2026 Rankings just came out, and now many people are working those stats into their marketing. “Look, I sold XXX!”
That’s the only measure of success!?!?!? Occasionally, within an office, someone might measure GCI, but definitely not net commission income. Not that GCI or NCI are the definitive measures either, but I am proposing they are more important than sales volume. For example, if one agent sells $20 million, but paid for leads, discounted their fee, and gave their money away in the transaction, they can earn less than someone who sold $10 million. Which means the person who sold $20 million is working twice as hard for half the pay!
(BTW: If you had a great year, and you got ranked, GREAT! I am not saying it’s bad to be recognized - I am simply saying it is not a necessarily true measure of skill, competence, and professionalism - and definitely not a measure of profound satisfaction.
This past Friday and Saturday, we talked about how to do your business with great clients, at your fee, with less effort and stress. That’s not what we talked about, but that is an outcome of what we talked about. It’s not that transactions don’t have stress from time to time; it’s that the people you work with and how you work with them are different. The relationships you create enable incredible efficiency and effectiveness. There are high levels of collaboration - and trust.
One agent from this past weekend has been working with me over the past year. They reported exactly what I am talking about: more income, better fees, less effort. More joy and satisfaction. Less stress. More ease. They had to pinch themselves that it could be this way. And they are a 20+ year agent!
I am not trying to FOMO you. I am not trying to sell you something. I am not trying to make you feel bad.
My intention is to create this experience for as many people who want it. I know there are other people who want more Profound Satisfaction in their business!
Next week I will do a 60-90 minute session (probably one on Wednesday, and one on Thursday - same session, different times). It will not be recorded. It’s a live-only thing. More details to come.
“It is sometimes easier to make the world a better place than to prove you have made the world a better place.”
- Amos Tversky
We started last Friday with that quote. One could apply it to real estate as, ‘it’s sometimes easier to be a better professional than to prove you are one.’ On the other hand, it’s probably not easier, but it is probably more fulfilling and satisfying.
